Watched an interesting show tonight – well lets say my daughter really wanted to watch it and I really did not so we watched it. The show is called “The Voice”. It has an interesting concept to it which is the 4 judges who are all excellent singers sit with their back to the stage and listen to the singers sing. They hit a button to turn around if they want mentor/coach the person after hearing them start to sing. There are more rounds and things change up but I love this round with the judges being essentially blind.
I love the fact that the singers are judged on singing and nothing else. The singers are not judged on how they dress. They are not judge on if they are tall or short, heavy or skinny, black or white, or physically attractive or not. They are strictly judged on their talent.
This got me thinking about judging and talents. I have been guilty so many times in my life judging people on how they were dressed and how they looked and not on talent. I know how bad it had hurt in the past when I was judged by looks rather than talent.
I then started thinking about God and his standard. God judges on what? I was reminded of 1 Samuel 16:7 which says, "Men look on the outward appearance, but God looks on the Heart.” How often am I found judging others on appearance rather than heart? The answer still is: too often.
Do you find yourself judging others? Did you watch “The Voice”?
